TCP and UDP packets

Requirements on the Streaming Network #

In order to stream out from a network connection a router needs to allow TCP / UDP packets on specific ports. These by default are allowed on almost all routers, however there are a couple that require these to be manually set. See below for what is needed:

Settings #

Network to allow TCP and UDP packets
Ports to be open are: 80, 443, 3478, 5349

Example of how this is set up #

This is an example of how to set up a Netgear Nighthawk M1 mobile router, however the same process can be done across all routers.

  1. Connect to the router by ethernet cable or WiFi
  2. Open a browser and navigate to http://192.168.1.1
  3. Log in as administrator. The default login is usually printed on the router with IP and admin / password
  4. Find the IP address of the router (IPV4). this can be found under the network tab
  5. Go to Advanced Settings > Port Forwarding > Add Rule
  6. Set a name, it can be anything
  7. Add port number as listed in settings above. (Start and end can be the same number)
  8. Add IP address that was noted earlier
  9. Choose TCP / UDP (TCP is the priority if there is only the one choice)
  10. A rule for each port needs to be separately added: 80, 443, 3478, 5349 (4 in total)
  11. Make sure the Port Forwarding is enabled
  12. Reboot the router. When logged back on you will be able to stream
